Varicose veins affect up to 40% of adults. Today, classic vein stripping surgery has been almost entirely replaced by minimally invasive techniques that allow patients to return to daily activities the next day after the procedure.
Modern varicose vein treatments
EVLT – Endovenous Laser Treatment
A thin laser fiber is inserted into the vein, sealing it from the inside. Success rate above 95%. Procedure time 30–60 minutes under local tumescent anaesthesia.
VenaSeal – medical glue closure
The vein is closed with a special medical adhesive (cyanoacrylate). No tumescent anaesthesia, no compression stockings needed after the procedure.
Sclerotherapy
Injection of a sclerosing agent (foam or liquid) that closes the vein. Ideal for spider veins and small varicose veins.
SVS – steam vein sclerosis
Vein closure using hot water vapour. Effective even in tortuous veins where laser cannot reach.
Why choose minimally invasive treatment?
- no general anaesthesia
- no hospital stay (outpatient procedure)
- return to work the next day
- no scars
- over 95% effectiveness
